Easing Protocol Yatris’ bookings and tenant rent collection
for the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board

Project commissioned by the Shrine Board, Government of Jammu & Kashmir

Situated in a holy cave 5200 feet above sea level, the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine is reachable by chopper or through a blessed 12-km trek. Until January 2019, a manual booking process was in place for its Protocol Yatris, who comprised Officials, VIPs, and other government officers from across the country. This, as is the case with all manual processes, was time-intensive, error-prone, and not optimally environmentally sustainable.

IAS Simrandeep Singh, the then CEO of the Shrine Board partnered with Mobiquel to conceptualize and develop a one-stop web booking platform, powered by SMS, for end-to-end automation of the booking process for Protocol Yatris.

The platform, operated by Shrine Board officials, covers everything from choppers, to darshan, to the aarti, to battery cars on location, and accommodation. It also has in-built triggers for personalized and detailed SMS intimations with directions to Yatris, along with an online payment option. In preparation for eventualities in which that is insufficient, the platform allows all touch points at several locations to search a Yatri’s booking and help them avail any booked service. As of 2023, the platform has completed more than 195,000 bookings.

Shrine Board had also engaged Mobiquel for developing a web portal for tenant management across its several properties, which includes the functionalities of rent collection and bank guarantees. This platform allows tenants to receive monthly SMS and make online payments either through a payment gateway or by generating challans.
